What is that old saying, “Never work with children or animals” Well, the Bunbury Players latest production has gone against convention and not only got nearly 20 children, but also a dog too for good measure!
The classic tale of the orphan Annie comes to life as the Bunbury Players of Mildenhall take you on a journey of how Annie (Rachel Surrey, 11) manages to escape the clutches of the wicked orphanage mistress, Miss Hannigan (Mandy Morrish). Annie escapes to an easier life outside during the great depression where tomorrow is always brighter because of hope, and a certain stray dog, Sandy, who tags along for the fun. When she is returned to the orphanage, she escapes again and her life is changed when she enters into the world of the Millionaire Daddy Warbucks (Darren Mather).
After the success that the Bunburies have had over the last few years with the various pantomimes, plays and other musicals, they decided to return to the stage with another classic. This musical features some well known songs like; “Tomorrow” and Hard knock Life” to name but two.
“We have had so much fun during rehearsals, and I am so excited to be playing the part of Annie” says Rachel Surrey, 11 from Lakenheath.
“Everyone has put in a lot of hard work with this show, not only the cast, but all the people that patrons never really see, like the backstage team, costume makers, painters and set builders.” Says Becky Green, Director.
Annie, the musical comes to the Jubilee Centre, Mildenhall for just three nights from Thursday 23rd to Saturday 25th October. Doors open at 7pm, and the show starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are priced at £7.00 adults, £5.00 concessions and £22.00 for a family ticket (2 adults & 2 children) and are available from the Card Boutique, Market Place or from Oasis Beauty, Mill Street, Mildenhall.
